Frequently Asked Questions

Forest Bathing

Is swimming or sunbathing involved?

Forest Bathing means to 'bathe' in the forest atmosphere, by taking it in with our 5 senses. There is no swimming involved, it takes place on land. We stay clothed but we may lie down and bask in the sun.

Can I bring a dog?

No dogs, except an assistance or guide dog, please let me know in advance if that will be the case.

Will the session go ahead if its raining?

Yes, if there is light rain the session will continue. The guide will cancel the session in the event of unsuitable weather conditions such as heavy rain, strong wind, storms etc. as forecast by the MET Office. If the session is cancelled you will receive a full refund on the ticket price.

What if I need to leave early?

Please book a session that you know you can stay until the very end. You are free to leave during the session if necessary, and a safe way to do so will be determined (so that you dont get lost).

Do I have to do all the activities?

Every activity or invitation in the session is optional and you can choose to opt-out of anything you don't wish to participate in. There are chances to share your experience too, which are optional, nothing is forced.

Is the guide a therapist?

No, these sessions are non-clinical, non-therapeutic group sessions designed for personal exploration, nature connection and relaxation.

Are there toilets?

Check the specific event to ascertain whether there are toilets at the location. At Hadley Woods & Covert Way Nature Reserve there aren't toilets.

Are walks accessible?

Unfortunately most of the routes & paths are not suitable for wheelchairs. Please get in touch if you would like to participate in forest bathing in a wheelchair accessible location.

What about staying warm in the winter months?

The guide will advise you what to bring to stay warm during the session; especially to wear warm layers, thick socks, gloves, hat etc. To wear waterproofs & good sturdy shoes so you can stay dry. You could bring a hot drink or hot water bottle if you wish. The guide will include more movement in sessions if it is cold and will always bring hot tea for the end of the session.

Can I use my phone in the session?

You will be advised to switch off from technology during the walk, to give yourself a rare precious opportunity without the demands of phones & time. The guide will keep track of time so you dont have to.
